The Neptune Grill was a restaurant & bar located in the thick of the political action on Capitol Hill, more specifically, 145 B Street in Washington D.C. The restaurant opened in 1938 and given its location, it’s not a stretch to imagine that some very powerful politicians ate there during the 1940s and 50s! The “Neptune Grill” was located within walking distance of the Supreme Court, Library of Congress, and numerous federal buildings. But what truly matters is the matchbook cover featuring a beautiful, carefree woman riding a giant lobster! It’s too memorable and fun to let die into history, never to be seen again. It’s unknown when the Neptune Grill actually closed, but its location was demolished and today it’s a federal government office.
